Introduction

Welcome to Our Neurodiagnostic Services

At Shanmuga Hospital, we offer comprehensive neurodiagnostic services, including EEG, Video EEG, and NCV tests, to accurately diagnose and manage a wide range of neurological conditions.

EEG (Electroencephalogram)

What is an EEG?

An Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a non-invasive test that records electrical activity in the brain. It is commonly used to diagnose epilepsy, sleep disorders, and other neurological conditions.

How is an EEG performed?

Small electrodes are placed on the scalp to detect brain waves. The procedure is painless and typically takes about 30 to 60 minutes.

Why choose our EEG services?

Our state-of-the-art equipment and experienced technicians ensure accurate and reliable results. We provide a comfortable environment and personalized care throughout the testing process.

Video EEG

What is a Video EEG?

A Video EEG combines standard EEG recording with video monitoring to capture both electrical brain activity and physical behavior. This is particularly useful for diagnosing and monitoring seizure disorders.

How does it work?

The patient is monitored over an extended period, usually 24 to 72 hours, to capture events that may not occur during a standard EEG. The video helps correlate any physical symptoms with EEG changes.

Benefits of Video EEG:

  • Provides a comprehensive evaluation of seizure activity.
  • Helps in distinguishing between epileptic and non-epileptic events.
  • Assists in treatment planning and monitoring the effectiveness of interventions.

NCV (Nerve Conduction Velocity)

What is NCV?

Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) test measures the speed at which electrical impulses travel through the nerves. It is used to diagnose nerve damage or dysfunction, such as in carpal tunnel syndrome or peripheral neuropathy.

How is NCV performed?

Electrodes are placed on the skin over the nerve to be tested. A small electrical impulse is applied to the nerve, and the response is measured. The test is typically quick and involves minimal discomfort.

Why choose our NCV services?

Our skilled person and advanced technology provide precise and detailed assessments. We ensure a comfortable experience and clear communication throughout the test.
